A 101-year-old known as Merrill Pittman Cooper finally achieved his High School Diploma after abandoning his education in 1938.
Merrill discontinued his education because of the civil war in America and the financial difficulties he encountered.
He enrolled at Storer College in Harper’s Ferry, West Virginia US from 1934 to 1938. It was a boarding school that was founded after the Civil war that educated enslaved children at the time.

He realised that his mother who worked as a live-in housekeeper could not afford his tuition for the final year. He encouraged her to move them to Philadelphia where she had family and Merrill was forced to drop out.
He told Washington Post, “She worked so hard, and it all became so difficult that I just decided it would be best to give up continuing at the school.”
Since he dropped out of school, he took up a job at a women’s clothing store in the city to help with the bills. In 1945, he was hired as a city trolley car operator. He accomplished a transportation career, but regretted not getting a Diploma.
He told his family of his wish to complete his education, which they supported him to achieve it.

The brilliant young man, identified as Odasanii Papa is from West African country, Ghana.
Odasanii Papa started by studying for an undergraduate degree in Medicine and surgery, which makes him a Doctor.
