52 years after leaving school, man returns to earn Bachelor’s degree at age 74

Bobby Bell, a Hall of Fame Pro Football player, has become an inspiration to many around the world. This is after earning a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota at the age of 74.

Bell had to leave his academic pursuits to focus on his football career after enrolling at the university in 1959.

In a letter to his graduating class, Bell explained that he promised his father he would earn a Bachelor’s degree when he left home at 18.

Despite achieving great success in Super Bowl and football, he always felt like something was missing until now. “I have rooms full of plaques and trophies, but I did not have my college diploma,” he remarked.

Famous basketball player returns to University 13 years after leaving school

In a similar story, 34-year-old American professional basketballer, Stephen Curry, has announced his return to university to acquire a Bachelor’s degree.

The Golden State Warriors player who has been out of the school setting for 13 years shared the good news on his Twitter page @StephenCurry30 in September 2022.

He abandoned his college diploma in 2009 to focus on and build his career in the National Basketball Association (NBA).
