Controller of Corrections, Kuje Custodial Centre, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, Ahmed Musa Ahmed, has announced that about 53 Kuje and Suleja inmates will write the 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
According to a statement on Friday, September 30, Ahmed advised the inmates to attend the ongoing tutorials to pass with good grades.
He noted that this is important for them to reintegrate adequately into society after imprisonment.
Ahmed said the preparatory class has produced candidates with excellent results repeatedly.
He urged the candidates to think beyond prison time and hope for the best education could afford them.
The registered inmates, through their leader, promised to do their best to gain admission into the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).
The officer-in-charge of Kuje Custodial Centre, Shehu Ibrahim, thanked the non-governmental organizations that volunteered to contribute to the inmates’ successful registration.
He pleaded with the Federal Government to copy the National Open University of Nigeria by making both West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and National Examination Council (NECO) examinations accessible to inmates free of charge.
