ANAMBRA GOVERNOR REVEALS PERPETRATORS OF THE STATE’S INSECURITY

Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo, in an interview with Channels TV, revealed that the majority of attacks in the state are carried out by Igbos.

According to him, 100% of the criminals arrested in heinous activities are Igbos. Several information on these perpetrators indicates that they are responsible for most of the crimes and insecurity in his state.

This contradicts the long-held belief that these atrocities are committed by foreigners and other tribal members. During the interview, he said,

The first set of people we caught are Igbo from the South-East states and not from Anambra. But as we went on, we discovered that a whole lot of the youth are joining them and we have not disguised among them, we are dealing with them equally

Although, the governor noted that a chunk of them might be from the state. It is also vital to recognise that Anambra receives a significant proportion share of influx of people from other South East states and other regions of Nigeria. This might have also influenced the high rates of crimes in the state.

According to the Punch Newspaper, Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo also stated why insecurity and kidnapping are rampant in the state.

He cited Anambra’s economic position as a target for criminals among South-East states.

The state is one of the richest states in the South East. It is also home to some of the wealthiest Igbo men. With such worth, Atrocious criminal crimes like kidnapping are bound to exist.

During the interview, he indicated that these criminals are often times disguised to be what they are not. But once captured, they are found to be just simple crooks.

They are plain criminals. Some of these criminals also hide under the cloak of agitation but IPOB has repeatedly distanced itself from the criminals.

Anambra, Light of the Nation

Anambra, which was once a reasonably calm state, has since experienced the terrifying terror of insecurity.

However, the state governor has informed inhabitants that he has increased his efforts to combat insecurity through the implementation of multiple operations.

The governor stated that these multiple operations are ongoing to resolve the issue.

He also added that Anambra citizens as of today are currently enjoying relative tranquility.
