The federal government has stated that the 2023 population census will not take place on March 29 as previously anticipated.

Lai Mohammed, the minister of information and culture,  revealed this on Wednesday in Abuja at the conclusion of the Federal Executive Council meeting chaired by President Muhammadu Buhari. He stated that the census will now take place in May.

According to Channels Tv, Lai Mohammed explained that moving the census was necessary after the governorship and state assembly elections were moved to March 18.
