Chelsea vs Arsenal Headlines EPL Weekend

Chelsea-arsenal

Chelsea and Arsenal will face off this Sunday in the Premier League. Leaders Arsenal travel to Stamford Bridge looking to get one over their London rivals. A win will see them maintain their two-point gap over defending champions Manchester City.

Arsenal have been outstanding this season and are on a quest to win trophies; they are here for serious business. Arteta and the club will be effervescent and self-assured following their 5-0 thumping of Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

Chelsea, on the other hand, have been decent since the dismissal of Thomas Tuchel, and Graham Potter has had his fair share of success, but a 4-1 upset at Brighton has shifted the atmosphere, and the team is currently in the sixth position.

It was Potter’s first defeat, and perhaps it will not be mirrored when they host Arsenal on Sunday.

The London derby is scheduled for a 1pm kick-off on Sunday afternoon, which is a time slot we don’t see too often.

Liverpool has only failed to score in one of their past 20 Premier League meetings with Tottenham (0-0 in October 2015). While they’ve lost just one of their past 19 against Spurs (D6 L12).

This is the first time Tottenham are hosting Liverpool while above them in the table since October 2017.

The match is scheduled for a 5.30 pm kick-off on Sunday afternoon.

Aston Villa vs Manchester United

Mings or Maguire? Two similar players, both leaders, both whole-hearted but both guilty of mistakes that often lead to goals.

Their character and presence mean they are never far away from headlines, courting praise and controversy in equal measure, not least with regard to captaincy.

Maguire through injury and loss of form has been out of favour, and Mings had the captaincy stripped, ultimately one of the circles that Steven Gerrard couldn’t square before his inevitable sacking.

Maguire has had to watch from the sidelines as his team continues to develop under Eric ten Hag and faces a real battle to get into the side, putting his place in the England XI in jeopardy.

For Mings, though, his form has remained consistent and supporters have been grateful to him as a constant in a drastically under-performing Aston Villa side.

This will be Unai Emery’s first match in charge for Aston Villa.

The match is scheduled for a 3 pm kick-off on Sunday afternoon.

Manchester City vs Fulham

Manchester City is unbeaten in their past 14 Premier League games against Fulham, winning 11 and drawing three. They’ve won each of their nine against them in the competition, keeping a clean sheet in each of the past five.

Three of Fulham’s four Premier League victories against Manchester City have come at Etihad Stadium, most recently a 3-1 victory in April 2009.

Manchester City has won their past 12 meetings with Fulham in all competitions, only ever having longer winning runs against Watford (15) and West Bromwich Albion (14). They’ve also netted at least twice in each of their past 13 against the Cottagers in all competitions.

Fulham has won just two of their 15 Premier League away games against reigning champions (D2 L11), though they did win their most recent such match 1-0 at Liverpool in March 2021 (also 3-1 at Manchester United in October 2003).

The match is scheduled for a 3 pm kick-off on Saturday afternoon.
