Following Christine’s birth in August 1967, a disturbing incident took place involving John. He assaulted a 15-year-old boy who happened to be the son of a local politician and a fellow member of the Jaycees. The severity of the offence led to John pleading guilty to one count of buggery in 1968. Consequently, he received a 10-year prison sentence.

Soon after John’s conviction, Christine’s mother wasted no time in filing for divorce and seeking custody of their children and assets. Her petition was successful, and she was granted both custody of the children and ownership of the property.

This marked a significant turning point in their lives as they moved forward in the aftermath of the traumatic events involving John.
