A Nigerian student named Eghosa Igbinosa has made headlines after building a vehicle for his final year project.
The University of Benin student deployed his innovative skills and developed a light truck for his PhD project.
During an interview with Daily Trust, Eghosa Igbinosa said he cut costs by sourcing 80 per cent of the components locally and 20 per cent from existing automobile and modified parts.

On the cost of the vehicle, he said, “Outside the tooling cost, the vehicle’s cost, which includes buying of materials and logistics, was over N1.2m, but as at today, that cost may not be realistic.”
How and why did you construct it?
“I decided to develop a light weight utility vehicle as a project for my PhD due to my desire to solve problems within my immediate environment,” he said.
Eghosa Igbinosa revealed that utility vehicles’ importance in helping SMEs and local farmers motivated him to carry out the project.
He said, “I developed a utility vehicle using local materials and technology to help SMEs, farmers, petty traders, among others in Nigeria, to transport their goods from one point to the other.”
The PhD student also revealed that he’s also building a two-seater all-terrain sports car which is about 85 per cent completed.

Man converts old vehicle into brand new vehicle
Meanwhile, a creative Nigerian man shocked social media users after refurbishing an old car to look like a lovely new one.
In a viral TikTok video, the talented young man showcased how he transformed an old 2007 Hilux into a 2020 Tiger car.
The video chronicled how he repainted and changed some body parts of the vehicle and did some upholstery work on the interior.
