In a recent interview with Real 92.3 FM in Atlanta, he revealed that due to his affluent background, many assumed he didn’t face any struggles in his journey to stardom.
The singer expressed that people were unaware of the early stages of his career, where he faced difficulties.

Despite the perception of his privileged upbringing, he had to prove himself through the release of multiple records before gaining recognition.
He acknowledged that society tends to favour rags-to-riches narratives, and although he hadn’t experienced extreme adversity, his passion for music was unwavering.

Recounting his decision to leave the comfort of his luxurious home, Davido admitted to sleeping in his friend’s studio, even in uncomfortable conditions.
Others advised him to return home, but his determination to pursue his musical aspirations led him to resist going back.
He explained that going home would have meant being restricted and prevented from pursuing his passion.
