South African entertainer, DJ Maphorisa has been arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, Thuli Phongolo.
According to reports, the incident occurred at Phongolo’s apartment in Sandton, Johannesburg.
Phongolo, who is also a club DJ and an actress, reported the incident to the police and made a statement at the Sandton police station.

In her statement, she said; “He became aggressive and started to punch me with his fists on my chest. He held me and took me to the balcony, and grabbed me aggressively by my neck.”
The actress also alleged that her boyfriend took her phone during the assault, but later returned it.
She then contacted her manager, who took her to the police station to open a domestic abuse case against Maphorisa.
Many are calling for justice to be served regardless of Maphorisa’s social status as cases of domestic violence shouldn’t be swept under the carpet.
