Former Senator Annie Okonkwo, who represented Anambra Central senatorial district in the National Assembly, has passed away at the age of 63.
He succumbed to a prolonged illness in the United States.

A prominent businessman in the 80s and 90s, Okonkwo hailed from Ojoto in Anambra State’s Idemili North Local Government Area.
Notably, he served as a senator for Anambra Central and had also contested multiple times for the governorship of Anambra State.

A staunch member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he was last seen publicly when his son, Uche Okonkwo, who had won a seat in the House of Representatives, visited him to present his certificate of return.
