The news of the passing of Otunba Michael Olasubomi Balogun, the renowned founder of First City Monument Bank (FCMB) and the esteemed Olori Omoba of Ijebuland, has emerged.

He peacefully departed at the age of 89 in the early hours of the morning of May 19, in London. The confirmation of his demise was shared by prominent media personality Dele Momodu, who took to Instagram to relay the sad news.

In his post, Dele Momodu expressed his condolences and bid farewell to the legendary figure, stating, “Diamonds are forever OVATION INTERNATIONAL magazine (since 1996)… Good night CHIEF OLASUMOMI BALOGUN… Rest in Peace Sir.”

The founder and chairman of the FCMB Group was hailed as the epitome of divine favor and a true champion of humanity. In other news, dramatic events took place at Arik Air on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, where the airline’s founder, Johnson Arumemi-Ikhide, was denied access to the company’s facilities despite a court ruling granting him admittance.

The Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON), which took over the management of the airline in 2017 due to a sizable debt, reportedly blocked Arumemi-Ikhide and his assistants according to Daily Trust.

These security officers had previously been appointed through a court order.
