World Cup: Ghana defeat South Korea 3-2

Ghana Black Stars survive South Korea’s second-half attack to win 3-2 in matchday 2 of Group H.

The Black Stars had lost their first match to Portugal by the same margin in the first match.

A more resilient Ghanaian side made sure they kept their composure after going two goals up in the first half.

The game played at the Education City Stadium in Qatar, saw Mohammed Kudus and Gue-Song Cho both scoring a brace.

South Korea dominated early on in the half, forcing seven corners in the first 20 minutes. Mohammed Salisu gave Ghana the lead in the 24th minute from a goalmouth scramble.

Just 10 minutes later, Ghana doubled its lead through Mohammed Kudus. He scored a glancing header from a Jordan Ayew cross.

South Korea responded with two goals from Cho Gue-Song who scored both from headers. Both goals came in the 58th and 61st minute to level scores at 2-2.

Mohammed Kudus added his second of the game in the 68th minute with a well-taken finish to make it 3-2. Inaki Williams had miscued a pass but it fell kindly to Kudus who made no mistake from inside the box.

South Korea almost leveled scores again but Salisu was forced to clear off the line.
