The announcement of the release of WAEC results is always big news to any aspiring student in Nigeria.
The West African Examination Council (WAEC), has declared the release of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results for 2022.
Prospective candidates can now check their 2023 WAEC results which are available on the WAEC portal for checking results.
The result can be checked in different ways, provided that candidates have access to the internet.

It was recorded by the examination body that a total of 1,601, 047 candidates, sat for the examination.
Out of the 1,601, 047 candidates, a total of 1,222,505 candidates of the 1,601, 047 candidates passed with 5 credits and above, in a minimum of 5 subjects.
As part of the compulsory subjects to pass, English language and Mathematics were also included.
That figure meant that about 73 percent passed the examination, which meant there was a decrease of more than 5 percent from the previous year.
When you compare it to the 81 percent pass rate recorded in the same exam last year. There is a need for major improvements from candidates in subsequent years.

How to Check Your WAEC Result
As a candidate that successfully sat down for your WAEC result, you have a number of ways to check for your result.
Results can be accessed through the WAEC result checker, by visiting the website www.WAECdirect.org.
Candidates can also make use of the SMS on their mobile phones. Whatever option you choose, you are going to need a scratch card for your WAEC result.

How to Check WAEC the Portal
To make use of the WAEC result checker option, just follow the steps listed below:
Candidates should log in to the WAEC result checker website www.waecdirect.org
- Fill in your examination number
- Choose the type of your examination i.e May/June
- Select the year you sat down for the Examination, which is 2022
- Then you click on the check the result
Alternatively, you can also check your WAEC result using your serial number. All you have to do is to follow the steps above but you will insert your serial number instead of your examination number, then click check result.

How to Check WAEC Result Via SMS
Checking your result via SMS is quite different from checking it through the portal. All you need to do is follow the following steps:
- Go to your phone and open your SMS
- The type WAEC*ExamNumber*PIN*ExamYear (make sure you do not leave spaces between them)
- Send everything you have typed to 32327
- A message will come in instantly that will contain your statement of WAEC result
Take Note: The option of checking your WAEC result through SMS is only available to subscribers of GLO, MTN, AND AIRTEL.
If your WAEC result does not come in via SMS after you might have done what is required, kindly go through these steps again. Usage of the SMS service might also incur charges from your network.
For candidates that want physical evidence for their result which is a printed copy, the option of using the website is highly recommended.
However, if all you need is quick access to your result for you to just check how you performed, the option of SMS will come in very useful to you.
