Popular Nigerian singer, Ikuforiji Olaitan Abdulrahman professionally known as Oxlade shared how he ran away from home to achieve his dreams of being a musician.
According to him, his father who was a lecturer at Lagos state university was at first against him venturing into music which made him take drastic measures.
He shared that after his father was against his wishes of singing, he ran away from the house and sold bus tickets and food at parties to survive.

“Honestly, he [my dad] was indifferent at first. But my stubbornness and consistency paid off. I ran away from the house at some point in my life to pursue music personally. And I had to do all sorts of stuff to survive. Selling bus tickets and selling foods at parties,” he said.
Oxlade added that he grew up in the streets of Surulere where he learnt a lot, stating that what he has learnt brought him a long way.
He boasted that if anyone survives in Surulere, then there’s hardly a place they cant survive.

He asserts that it is very important for an individual to know what he or she wants as a person.
Having an idea of where you are headed will help you not to accept everything, he said as he added that when he started music he knew the kind of brand he wanted to build for himself and that really helped him a lot as a person
