INEC declares APC’s Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the winner of the 2023 Presidential Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission has officially announced Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presiential candidate of the ruling party (APC), as the winner of the 2023 Presidential elections.

The INEC chairman, Professor Mahmud Yakubu, made the declaration in Abuja in the early hours of Wednesday, March 1, 2023.

According to him, the final results showed APC’s Tinubu emerging with a whooping 8, 794, 726 votes. His closest rivals, Atiku Abubakar of PDP and Peter Obi of the Labour Party emerged with 6, 984, 520 and 6, 101, 533 votes respectively.

Youths protest at the INEC collation center

Meanwhile, amid the ongoing collation of the presidential election results, some people staged a protest against the outcome being announced.

The youths, who formed the bulk of the protesters, stormed the International Conference Centre (ICC) in Abuja, the official collation centre, to express their dissatisfaction with the results of the election.

The youths criticized the way the presidential election was conducted under the leadership of popular activist Moses Ogidi-Paul.
