INEC presents certificate of return to president elect, Bola Tinubu

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has awarded a Certificate of Return to Bola Tinubu, the victor of the 2023 Nigerian presidential elections.

The Vice president-elect, Kashim Shettima, was also invited to collect and sign the Certificate of Return.

Live at the occasion were the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, Speaker House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, Governors under the APC party, Ministers and party members.

On 1st March, INEC announced Tinubu (APC) as the winner of the election.

The former Lagos state governor canvassed a total of 8,794,726 votes to defeat his closest rivals and the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, and Peter Obi of the Labour party. They polled 6,984,520 and 6,101,533 votes respectively.

The presidential candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso polled a total of 1,496,687 votes to come 4th.

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu informed the whole world that his wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu will not be returning to the Senate after he won the 2023 presidential election.

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu who was officially announced as the winner of the 2023 election on Wednesday, March 1 made it clear while he was delivering his speech of appreciation in Abuja that his wife will not return to the Senate office.

According to him, his wife, Senator Oluremi will now be performing her duties as his wife and the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
