Innoson Vehicles gives N3m scholarship to overall best UTME student

On Monday, May 8, Innoson Vehicles, a prominent Nigerian automobile manufacturer established by Chief Innocent Chukwuma, presented a scholarship worth three million naira (N3 million) to the overall best UTME student.

They showcased their dedication to academic excellence to Ejikeme Joy, who emerged as the highest-performing candidate in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for the 2023 academic year.

The action taken by Innoson Vehicles was not merely a recognition of academic achievement but also a testament to the company’s commitment to investing in the education of young Nigerians.

This scholarship represents a substantial contribution towards 16-year-old Ejikeme Joy’s financial needs throughout her five-year tertiary education journey, enabling her to pursue her studies with ease.

Addressing the attendees during the concise event held at his Umudim Nnewi residence, Chief Chukwuma expressed that his choice to grant the scholarship to the top-performing UTME candidate was motivated by more than just acknowledging academic brilliance. He emphasized that it also aimed to inspire other students to pursue excellence in their academic endeavors.

In his own words, he said, “Innoson Vehicles Manufacturing (IVM) company will continue to demonstrate its commitment towards social responsibility through various initiatives, including scholarship awards, jobs creation, and support for local communities. “This latest scholarship award is a testament to our’ dedication to empowering young Nigerians, and investing in the future of the nation.”

Miss Ejikeme Joy, filled with immense happiness, expressed her gratitude to Chief Chukwuemeka for his generosity. She assured that receiving recognition for her performance would motivate her to put even more effort into her academic pursuits.

Ejikeme, who disclosed that she hails from Enugu State but currently resides in Nnewi with her father, a commercial motorcycle operator (Okada rider), pledged to make Chief Chukwuma proud by demonstrating heightened dedication to her studies.

Joy’s scored 98%, 89%, 94%, and 81%, in English Language, Physics, Biology, and Chemistry respectively.

Meanwhile, luck shone on a 19-year-old Nigerian girl who was recently released from prison after a philanthropic group awarded her a scholarship.

A kind-hearted Nigerian man who picked her up after her release from custody inquired if she had completed her secondary education.

The young lady, identified as Kosisochukwu Abaji, revealed that she passed the required subjects at the West African Senior Secondary School Certificate of Examination (WASSCE).
