JAMB reveals new policy for Direct Entry and UTME candidates

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced a new policy adjustment for Direct Entry (DE) applicants seeking admission to Nigerian universities.

According to JAMB spokesperson Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the Direct Entry (DE) candidates would take the same examination as UTME candidates going forward.

He revealed that the choice was made so that Direct Entry applicants could defend the use of their A-level certificates.

Dr. Fabian announced these in a statement, on Thursday, after the management committee meeting in Abuja, according to Daily Trust.

He claims that the committee meeting was held to assess the recent crisis seen in the administration of the 2023 DE registration.

Here is the statement by JAMB spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin:

The board expressed its commitment to press ahead

“The board has expressed its commitment to press ahead with its efforts to reposition the conduct of public examinations in Nigeria.

“The board stated that the seeming crisis was birthed by the implementation of some of its newly-adopted processes aimed at curbing infractions in the admission value chain given our national peculiarities.

“This policy is to be situated within the ambit of the Board’s relentless efforts aimed at enhancing the growth of the nation’s education sector as it would promote transparency, accountability and good governance.
