President Muhammadu Buhari has given the go-ahead for the postponement of the Population and Housing census.
The census which was originally supposed to be carried out on the 3rd to 7th of May, 2023 has been rescheduled to a later date that would be determined by the incoming administration.
According to Punch, the president made this decision after his meeting with Nasir Isa Kwarra, the Chairman of the National Population Commission, and his team, with some members of the Federal Executive Council.
In a press statement signed by the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, Buhari declared that the committee should continue with the preparation for the 2023 census so that the record can be handed over to the incoming administrators.
