King Charles III Speaks After Being Crowned; Swears To Govern With Justice and Mercy

King Charles III was sworn in today Saturday, May 6 after ascending the throne with passing of Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022, to officially become the king.

He was sworn in an crowned today at the West Minister’s Abbey following a royal procession.

During his coronation, he reiterated his desire to protect all faiths and it’s people.

He swore to govern the people of the United Kingdom with justice and mercy, and to uphold the Anglican Church of England and the Presbyterian Church of Scotland.

During the most sacred part of the Coronation service; Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury anointed King Charles’ hands, chest and head with holy oil in the Coronation Chair.

The new monarch said as he took the oath at Westminster Abbey: “I swear to govern the people with justice and mercy, and to uphold the Anglican Church of England and the Presbyterian Church of Scotland.”
