Korra Obidi Biography: Net worth, Career Regrets, Husband, and ‘What does a man want’

This article about Korra Obidi Biography is one that you will find interesting. For example, Korra Obidi‘s comments after her marriage to Justin Dean crashed brings to mind the age-long question: “Can s3x keep a man in a relationship?” In a video, the entertainer admitted giving her all in bed and elsewhere and concluded that marriage was not for her.

“I gave them my all; gave it to them. I gave them my full chest,” she said.

“In the institution, I would cook and place myself in different s3xual positions. It’s not easy in that institution. I don’t know if I could get married again. I don’t know if it’s something I could do with my life again. Because of that institution, I’ve really tried.

“Please, don’t try to marry me. I like my space as I’ve become single like this. Before, I had to tone down my madness, but now, I’m not. Nobody is gonna tell me anything. Nobody’s gonna stop me from being myself. I don’t think I’ll ever marry again.”

At that moment, she hated herself and the world because she had failed to face and accept the limitations of herself and of life. This refusal is called romanticism in the arts. In psychology, it’s called neurosis. In plain language, it’s called NCKAMWDWTBK.

Do you call that plain language? Something that’s unpronounceable?

But it wasn’t meant to be pronounced. NCKAMWDWTBK is an acronym meaning “nothing can keep a man who doesn’t want to be kept”.

“If I have another bae, I will never and ever put him online. You people will destroy it like you destroyed my first marriage,” she said, in the spirit of NCKAMWDWTBK.

“I will hide it from you, your jealous goat mouth. I remember those times someone would go and email him and say, look at what your wife is doing every day.”

As the storm of boredom and bitterness cools off, Korra Obidi might still not know what a man wants. But now she knows what a woman should do.

Korra Obidi’s Education

We don’t have a record of her primary school. She, however, got her secondary school certificate from the Command Secondary School, Ojo, Lagos. In 2007, she then went to the University of Lagos to study business administration and management. She graduated in 2011.

Korra Obidi’s Career

Korra Obidi’s career started in 2008 as an undergraduate at the University of Lagos. She honed her skills and gained some foothold in the entertainment industry there.

“I went on a tour with some Nigerian artistes as a professional dancer,” she said.

“However, my music career started later, in 2015 precisely. My debut single was titled, Man Like You.”

But her parents were not sold on her choice of career.

“It was tough for my parents to let me do what I do now. I’m a born entertainer; couldn’t control myself, even as a kid. I was yelled at and whipped, but I couldn’t just stop dancing,” she said.

“When I saw that they were not ready to let me dance, I was doing it secretly. Later, they decided there was nothing they could do to stop my passion for entertainment. My mother passed on years ago, and I miss everything about her.

“My dad is my biggest fan now, but this wasn’t always the case. We had a conversation, and he eventually let me pursue my dream.”

Korra Obidi grew up in the church, Deeper Christian Life Ministries. Her parents didn’t joke about the things of God, and she began singing and dancing in the church.

“Then, I hadn’t pierced my ears or nose,” she chuckled.

Her parents were protective and ensured she was kept far from the madding crowd.

“I lived a very sheltered life as a child,” she said.

“I was never allowed to play with the other kids. I had private tutors for almost everything. Didn’t have the freedom to go out or do things my peers did. I always watched other children playing from the windows and wished I was in their shoes.”

One would have expected someone with such an upbringing to have a stifled, creative impulse. The reverse was her case, as this paved the way to a fulfilling career in show business.

“I was never allowed to play with other kids. I think that is why I can’t stop playing as an adult,” she said.

Korra Obidi becomes famous in 2019 when she auditioned for the popular American reality dance show “So You Think You Can Dance” when she was six months pregnant. And at that time, she was the first pregnant woman to audition for the show.

Before then, she had performed in high-profile events like the Africa Basketball League in 2017/18, the Burj Al Arab, and the Ladies ‘A la mode in Muscat.

Korra Obidi received formal training in belly dance, salsa, and contemporary ballet in Dubai and Muscat. She added the Classical Odissi in Cairo and Lagos under the guidance of Priti Mastakar. And she’s so passionate about these dance styles, especially belly dance.

“I specifically chose belly dance because I find it easier to express emotions through the dance,” she said.

“But belly dance is only one of the styles that I was trained to do. I am so much more than a belly dancer. I also had extensive training in some other styles.”

Korra Obidi biography shows that she had her fair share of challenges. The dancer has been cheated and exploited at different times in her career. But she’s a lot wiser now.

“They are just there to take advantage of young talents financially and otherwise,” she said.

“For me, the major challenge was founding my own team, Team Korra. Once that was sorted out, everything else became easy.”

Easy? Okay. But how difficult is it for someone with Team Zero to become a dancer in Nigeria?

“It is extremely easy compared to other countries,” she said.

“Mentors like Kaffy, Loveth, SPAN myself, and a host of others groom young dancers without charge. You don’t have to be attached to a dance company for years before you start getting paid. The industry is welcoming, and if you work hard enough, you will be at the top in no time.

“Teacher don’t teach me…,” the lady on the left ‘seems’ to say

“I am not just a dancer but a musician, model and entertainer, and because of this, I can compare qualitatively the dance industry to the other industries. Dance is by far the most welcoming.”

We shall consider this when the time comes to transition from writing to dancing!

In March 2022, Justin Dean announced that he would be filing for divorce. This came barely a week after they welcomed their second child.

“I’m tired of the narcissism, cheating and lack of accountability,” he said.

“I’ve been trying since 2018 to save our marriage, and if I don’t do exactly what she says, she divorces me. I’ve been a prisoner that has his family used against him if she doesn’t get exactly what she wants.

Korra Obidi and I are getting a divorce. It’s over. I wouldn’t be treated this way longer. Did my absolute best to make it work? I didn’t want this. I did my best. My heart is broken. I loved her; supported her. I don’t deserve the way I was treated.”

A live video of the couple in an altercation showed a tired and frustrated man.

Reacting to the divorce, Korra Obidi said she would focus on herself and her children.

“I am going to be 100 percent committed to taking care of my newborn because when mama is good, the baby is good,” she said.

“Before I came to America, I was very indecisive, and I tasted from Pandora’s Box… I had an affair. That affair lasted only one date. When I got here, I told him I had an affair in Nigeria, and I don’t want us to have secrets.

“He said it was fine, and we could go on, but it wasn’t fine. He would go out, get drunk, and call me all sorts of names. I lost a pregnancy. There has been proof that I was in a violent relationship.”

Conclusion

Korra Obidi is the definition of dance: the movement of her body rhythmically, usually to music, for the purpose of expressing an emotion, releasing energy, or simply taking delight in the movement itself.

And Korra Obidi attracts criticism because of her dance.

“People are entitled to their opinions about me, but it doesn’t change who I am, and I enjoy who I am,” she said.

“Social media bullies are not critics, so I don’t care much about what they say about me or what I do. But I pay attention to constructive criticisms from friends and loved ones. There’s a revolution coming to Nigeria.

“Nigerian women will no longer be bed wenches and kitchen stewards relegated to the other room. They will be equal to men and free to express themselves. They will be assets, not liabilities aspiring to be kept in a home. The change is coming, and I want to be remembered as a pioneer in this cause.”
