Iyanya speaks on his relationship with women

He discusses how he relates with the women in his life and his time with his Ghanaian ex, Yvonne Nelson.

The superstar comments on their relationship, stating that they have had it cordial even though things didnt work out between them.

Speaking on an interview with Chude Jideonwo, Iyanya clarifies his position on marriage and relationship, on why he is still not married:

“Let’s be very real here. I always tell my friends I just hope one day one person will not come out of nowhere and say you forgot baby here oh.

I like to say it as a joke but let’s just get it out of the way. It is what it is. But for now, I pray to God for a beautiful home. It’s not easy because my experience as a child, it just really made it hard for me to just settle for anything.

It’s not that I don’t want to get married or I don’t want to be in a serious relationship, it’s just for me, marriage, it’s scary I won’t lie.

For me, it’s scary but then you have to do it at the end of the day. But I pray for a beautiful marriage and a beautiful home.

You know, when I got into the industry, I didn’t understand it. So, I was still being the same guy like thinking it’s okay to show people your girl.

All that stuff is fun, but later, you will realize it is not healthy especially when you guys have not sorted your foundation out or you don’t have a grip on each other, you’re just out there. I want to, I will, eventually.

For example, you fall in love with a female celebrity, and you try to change her, she’s going to rebel. Because the first thing to her is ‘I’m the queen, I’m out there on stage’, now you want to turn her into a housewife?

Oh you guys are going to fight! The same thing with the guys. There are so many times I’m going to put my shows, my tours, and say to you ‘you can’t be on the tour with me because I’m trying to focus’ and you’re going to misunderstand all of that.

So it’s a whole lot of things. What I’m trying to do now honestly is to just sort myself out before I can start bringing one girl again into my life. I’m just trying to make sure I’m okay.”

Regarding his relationship with Ghanaian actress Yvonne Nelson who he once famously dated, Iyanya said:

“She is an amazing person. We still talk when we have the chance to. Cuz the relationship went by doesn’t mean. We talk, once in a while.”
