Voter Intimidation

Intimidation of voters is a common tactic used to manipulate election outcomes in Nigeria. This could include threats of violence, harassment, or other forms of coercion. It also deals with ballot box snatching by political thugs.

Vote Buying

This is a widespread practice in Nigerian elections. Political parties and candidates often offer cash and other incentives in exchange for votes. They also use this tactic to suppress the votes of others. 

Voter Impersonation

This is a tactic used to cast illegal votes by pretending to be someone else. This is by using fake voter cards with the wrong identity. 

Underage Voting

Underage voting is a practice that has been known to occur in Nigerian elections, where minors are allowed to vote. This happens mostly in the Northern region of the country.

Bribing of Electoral Officials:

This involves giving juicy gifts to electoral officials to manipulate the vote count in their units, wards and local governments. 

Misuse of State Resources 

This is usually done by ruling parties to gain an unfair advantage. This includes use of government resources to campaign or using state security forces to intimidate opponents.

Fake news 

A tactic used to spread false information in order to influence election outcomes. It involves spreading rumors about candidates, parties, or electoral issues.

Bribing of Party Agents

Politicians sometimes bribe party agents and observers in a bid to manipulate election outcomes. 

Biased Security Agents 

Incumbent politicians always use biased security operatives to manipulate the election process. They also use this to intimidate voters.
