Nigerian lady whose mum was sidelined for having only female children bags MSc

A young Nigerian lady whose mum was sidelined after her father’s death for having only females children has bagged a master’s degree.

The lady, identified as Solace Ojotule, earned a Master’s degree in Africa and International Development from the University of Edinburgh, UK.

Solace Ojotule said she and her mother endured very challenging times after her father’s family abandoned them after his passing away.

In a LinkedIn post, she revealed that she has shattered glass ceilings and proved that a female child could also accomplish great things.

She said,

“Today, it is no longer a dream. I’m living the reality. I walked up to the stage to receive my degree, with my head held high; knowing that I have shattered glass ceilings, and have proved that indeed, female children can do it.

I’m excited to have a Master’s degree in Africa, and International Development conferred on me by The University of Edinburgh.

This degree is not just for only me, it is for my Mum and all widows who have gone through thick and thin to give their children the best. This degree is for all women who have been grilled and humiliated for giving birth to only female children.”

She also won an award from the Mastercard Foundation for being the best content creator at The University of Edinburgh.
