A Nigerian man who was rejected 7 times by scholarships finally won one to study at the University of Oxford, UK.
The brilliant man identified as Kelechi Chima graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Nigeria, West Africa.
After his medical degree, the young doctor applied for 7 scholarships but did not receive any as shared on his LinkedIn.
However, Kelechi did not give up on his dreams and continued to press in.
Finally, his effort brought forth fruits and he was awarded the 2023 Rhodes Award for West African Students.
The Rhodes scholarship provides students with a fully paid tuition. It also provides a yearly stipend of 17, 310 pounds to earn a Master’s degree from the University of Oxford.
Kelechi shared this achievement with excitement, listing the other tuition awards he applied to before winning the award.
He gave special thanks to the Rhodes Trust and Selectors for empowering him to attain his dream of providing sustainable healthcare
