A Nigerian mother has expressed overwhelming joy after watching her son play for Canada in the ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The woman who was identified as Dee Adekugbe moved a lot of social media users after her reaction to the football match.

The fresh legs of the Canadian team, currently ranked 41st in world football, faced an elite squad of Belgium, ranked 2nd in FIFA’s latest ranking.

She was seen in a video screaming joyously after seeing her son come off the bench The footballer came on the pitch as a substitute against Belgium in their opening match.

Screaming and jumping in elation, the 27-year-old’s mother said, “my son is in world cup, Yeah baby, thank You Jesus”.

The left-back featured for Canada in their first world cup appearance since 1986. The game ended 1-0 in favour of the Belgians despite a sterling performance from the North Americans.
