Daniil Medvedev is out of the French Open after being knocked out by world No. 172 Thiago Seyboth Wild in a huge upset on Day 3 at Roland-Garros.
After losing the first set, Medvedev looked to have things back on an even keel as he took the second and third sets, but the match slipped away from him as the Brazilian put in a display for the ages to win 7-6(5) 6-7(6) 2-6 6-3 6-4.

Seyboth Wild admitted that the victory was a “dream come true”.
“I’ve watched Daniil play for my entire junior career,” the Brazilian revealed on court afterward. “I always dreamed about playing these kinds of players on these kinds of courts. In my best dreams, I’ve beaten them. It’s a dream come true.
“I wanted to get the angles, using my forehand against his, and it worked pretty well.
“It was tough. I started cramping in the second set, and I couldn’t serve the way I wanted to. I stayed strong mentally, and I played my best tennis. I’m really happy with the way I played.
“I don’t know whether my coach will let me rest all day. That’s the way tennis works. You stay on the court, you work hard, and you get your reward.”
Whilst Seyboth Wild was broken in the first game, the young Brazilian quickly settled down and started showing off his forehand with a couple of brilliant winners and drop shots as he won his serve to love in the third game and then broke back Medvedev.
Seyboth Wild didn’t back down thereafter, firing down serve after serve, and he forced a tie-break in the first set, and as both players produced some stunning tennis.
To the surprise of most watching, Seyboth Wild took the first set to set tongues wagging on Philippe Chatrier.

The second set proved to be another marathon, with neither player giving an inch, resulting in yet another tie-break. This time it was Medvedev who came through to level it up.
The momentum appeared to swing towards the world No. 2 in set three as he broke Seyboth Wild twice in the opening six games to move 4-2 up. Medvedev found another break and went on to serve it out.
It might have seemed that the fourth set would be a formality but back came Seyboth Wild, who stole a break after an astonishing three double faults from Medvedev in the second game to move 3-0 up.
But just as quickly as there was hope for the Brazilian, it was extinguished as Medvedev broke back to love – only for Seyboth Wild to break back again in yet another twist.
He went on to seal it 6-3, taking the match to a decider – which was perhaps what it deserved.
The pair were nip and tuck as the fifth set moved to 3-3, before Seyboth Wild made his move.
He broke Medvedev before consolidating, and then when Medvedev made him serve it out, he was calmness personified to take the match with a rasping forehand down the line.
Seyboth Wild will face either Guido Pella or Quentin Halys in the second round.
