Smart woman: Nigerian apple hawker charges more for transfer as Naira notes become scarce

A Nigerian street hawker leveraged the current cash shortage to make more money in her business.

The woman was selling apples while wearing a small carton “signboard” around her neck with her account number boldly written on it.

It was really impressive to see that she gave her customers the option to make a transfer.

Hawker gives customers transfer option

According to her business terms, each apple costs ₦100 when paying with cash but 100 per cent more when making a transfer.

The hawker said any customer making a transfer would need to pay ₦200 for each apple even though the normal cost is N100.

She stated this in response to a man who inquired about her goods. She also mentioned that she was not selling wholesale.
