NECOM House, Lagos State

Standing 525 feet (160 meters) high, NECOM house, formerly known as NITEL tower, is undoubtedly the tallest building in Nigeria. It is located in Marina, on Lagos Island, Lagos state.

The 32-storey skyscraper was designed and constructed by Nickson Borys & Partners in 1979 and had, since then, maintained the title of the tallest building in Nigeria to date.

Upon its completion in 1979, the Nigerian External Communications NECOM House was the tallest building in the whole of Africa, and it is still arguably the tallest building in West Africa today.

Champagne Pearl Tower, Lagos State

This building is reputed to be the second-tallest building in Nigeria, standing at an astonishing height of 134 meters (440 feet).

The Champagne Pearl Tower is located in Eko Atlantic City in Lagos state as one of the five residential towers built for the Eko Atlantic City elites.  The building comprises 30 floors, made up of 4 apartments per floor and a basement floor.

Champagne Pearl Tower was completed in 2017 and is currently the tallest residential building in the country and the second tallest in Nigeria.

The other four residential towers are; the Eko White Pearl tower, Eko Black Pearl tower, Indigo Pearl tower, and Aqua Pearl tower.

Union Bank Building, Lagos State

The Union Bank building is Nigeria’s third-tallest building, standing at 124 Meters (407 feet). It is located in Marina, Lagos Island, Lagos State.

The 28-floor building that serves as the official headquarters of the Union Bank of Nigeria was constructed in 1991 by CCMC International.

World Trade Center (Tower 2), Abuja

Located in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT of Nigeria, the World Trade Center, Tower II, is the tallest building in Abuja as well as the fourth tallest building in Nigeria.

Standing at a height of 920 meters (394 feet), the 25-floor building was constructed in 2016, and it is one of the eight buildings that make up the World Trade Center complex in Abuja.

Eko Tower II, Lagos State

Next on the list of the top 10 tallest buildings in Nigeria is the magnificent Eko Tower II, also known as Eko Pearl Tower. It is located on Victoria Island, Lagos, and stands at a height of 118 meters (387 feet) above ground level.

The Eko Pearl tower was constructed in 2016. The building is part of the Eko Hotel and Suites complex. It is a mixture of various real estate components, including a Guesthouse, medical and social centre, parking lot, basement, staff rooms, conference rooms, restaurants, bars, etc.

The 27-story building is the tallest in the Eko Hotels and Suites complex and the fifth-tallest building in the country.

Black Pearl Tower, Lagos State

The Black Pearl Tower is one of the five residential towers in Eko Atlantic City. It is close to the Champagne Pearl Tower, the tallest residential building in the Eko Atlantic residential complex and the country.

Black Pearl Tower stands at a height of 112 meters (367 feet) and is made up of 24 floors. It is the sixth-tallest building in the country and the second-tallest residential building, right after the 33-story Champagne Pearl Tower.

The Black Pearl Tower was completed in the year 2016.

World Trade Centre (WTC) Tower I, Abuja.

The World Trade Centre 1 is the seventh-tallest building in the country. It is located in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

The World Trade Centre 1 stands at a height of 110 meters (360 feet) as the second-tallest building in Abuja. This building contains 120 apartments ranging in size from 1 to 6 bedrooms with duplex options and two exquisite penthouses and pool villas.

It was constructed in 2015 and was the tallest residential building in the country as at the time of completion.

Next on the list of the top 10 tallest buildings in Nigeria is the Ministry of Communication building. It is located in Obalende, Lagos state. The building stands at a height of 109 metres (358 feet) and secures its place as the eighth-tallest building in Nigeria.

The Ministry of Communication building, comprising 30 floors, was formerly known as the NIPOST building. It was initially built to serve as the headquarters of the Nigerian Postal service.

The building was constructed in the 1970s and is one of the oldest government buildings in the country. However, the Federal Government abandoned it after the country’s capital was moved from Lagos to Abuja.

The ninth-tallest building in Nigeria is a 21-storey building located in the business district of Uyo. This is the capital city of Akwa Ibom state.

It is a smart office building that was constructed in 2020 and stood at a height of 108.8 metres (357 feet). It occupies an area of 18, 639.050 square metres on a massive site area of 48, 200.00 square meters, making room for at least 500 capacity car parking spaces.

The Dakkada towers is currently the tallest building in Akwa Ibom state and the whole south-south geopolitical zone. It is reputed to host well-known corporate organizations or world class companies in the Nigerian oil and gas industry.

Cocoa House, Oyo State

The 10th tallest building in Nigeria is the Cocoa House, located in the ancient city of Ibadan in Oyo state. It stands 105 meters (344 feet) above ground level.

The Cocoa House was the first skyscraper in West Africa. It was constructed by Cappa and D’Alberto and was commissioned for use in August 1965.

It got its name from the Cocoa tree planted in front of the building and because it was constructed with cocoa exportation proceeds.

Unfortunately, the entire building was gutted by fire on January 9, 1998. It was closed for public use because of the extent of the destruction caused by the outbreak.

The Cocoa house was renovated and was commissioned for use again in August 1992.
