A Nigerian man, Precious Ubaka Spik proposed to his lover via a video call and married her weeks later.
According to Insider, Precious and Shalonda Trent, met on Facebook when Precious sent Shalonda a friend request.
He expressed his appreciation for the Bible verses she posted on her Facebook wall. They spoke for a while before drifting apart.
After three years, Precious informed Shalonda over DM that he had been in love with her since day one.
He expressed that it was important to marry her for the proper reasons, not to brag.
Shalonda made sure that he was a working man as he worked as a tutor and English instructor.
Precious ticked all her boxes with regards to the man she prayed for. In order to prevent any catfishing or scams, they switched from using Facebook to using WhatsApp for video chats.
They made use of the platform to talk about their future in the following weeks. Eventually, he proposed to her during a video chat, and she said yes.
She actually bought the ring
She received a $2,000 gift from him to buy a diamond engagement ring. Shalonda sent in an authenticity certificate and a photo of the ring on her finger.
Precious was a Nigerian and as such, they took the subsequent months to organize their wedding in his country of origin.
Shalonda’s family disapproved of their union because they thought Precious was attempting to con Shalonda into obtaining a USA visa and green card
When Shalonda finally made her way from Philadelphia to Dubai through Qatar to meet Precious, they finally had their first in-person encounter.
Before traveling to Nigeria for the wedding, they stayed in Dubai for a few days.
Shalonda was welcomed into Precious’ family with open arms as they had already made preparations for the wedding, including her bridal gowns.
In the absence of Shalonda’s relatives in Nigeria, the wedding still held.
However, on the couple’s first anniversary, Shalonda’s family had changed their minds and acknowledged the union.
Precious continued to work in Kazakhstan, so the couple relocated there and welcomed a baby girl as their first child.
