This, too shall pass, was the favourite saying of Abraham Lincoln, the 16th and arguably the best president of the United States of America. If Empress Njamah ever adopts a motto, it will be This too shall Pass.
“I face challenges every day,” she once said.
“If you are a celebrity, you face challenges as long as your face is everywhere. So, I wouldn’t just start counting. The most important thing is how to handle them, and I handle them very well.”
She handled them well, but would her recent ordeal and those in the past have taken a different turn had she not featured in some movies that now proved prophetic?
Maybe men saw her as She-Devil, Unwanted, and didn’t mind embarking on an Extreme Mission to send her to a Lake of Fire. One even made her go through a Wedding Saga.
The Love of My Life, You Broke My Heart, she screamed.
But When Love died, he saw a Different Person.
They left a Void in her heart – a heart Red Hot she cried Behind the Curtains.
Luckily, she had Thick Skin, and her ordeals had not turned her into a Black Widow. Her new partner need not be scared to look her in the eyes and say, Yes, We Can.
Count on Me. I’m a Wife Material, a God Citizen, she said in return.
In June, with no Lockdown declared, they walked down the aisle – Darling & Felix.
It wasn’t a Stroke of Luck. She was his Missing Angel.

Empress Njamah’s Career
Empress Njamah burst into the movie industry in 1995. Movies such as Red Hot, When Love Die, You Broke My Heart 1 & 2, The Pastor & Harlot, Liberian Girl, and She Devil shot her to stardom.
Lately, the dark-skinned actress has gone off the radar, appearing in the news for issues unrelated to her career.
“Not seeing my face does not mean I have stopped acting”, she said.
“It’s just that there is so much tribalism, clique. There are square pegs in round holes in the industry. There is so much politics in Nollywood. I am happy I joined when it was Nollywood when we had the round pegs in the round holes.
“I’m happy I started with many people I still look up to till today. My first major movie was Girls Hostel, which I did with Uncle Olu Jacobs, Ngozi Ezeonu, Alex Lopex, and Uche Jombo. That was when the industry was still hale and hearty. Right now, there are harassment and all that. I will take nothing less to do a movie. I get scripts here and there, lovely scripts.
“But if the pay is not good, I’m sorry I can’t settle for less. I have paid my dues, and I don’t think I should beg for roles, which many people do nowadays. It’s not about being seen everywhere.
“If you are seen everywhere, there should be something you have to show for it. You can’t be seen everywhere and you have nothing to show for it. I do other stuff; I do interior decoration. I would rather not love to be seen in movies and not have anything to show for it.
However, she knows what she will change in the industry if given a chance.
“I will change tribalism, clique,” she said.
“I will make sure everybody contributes his quota. There will be nothing like you are a celebrity and you can’t attend meetings. I mean, there are too many things that have gone wrong in the industry.
“I will stop giving out roles because the person is sleeping with the producer. There are so many things wrong, but I know with time, it will be fine.”

But she knew the question wasn’t about platonic love.
“People get into relationships fast, and they fall out fast,” she said.
“When you are in a relationship, and it’s not leading you anywhere, it’s not what you should celebrate. Right now, I should talk about being in a relationship. I should talk about walking down the aisle. That is most important, and when the time comes, I will let you guys know.
