World Cup: Cameroon defeat Brazil 1-0 to bow out

Cameroon defeated Brazil 1-0 in their final Group H match to bow out of the FIFA 2022 World Cup in style.

A stoppage-time goal by Cameroonian captain, Vincent Aboubakar broke a resilient Brazilian side that had already qualified before today.

Vincent Aboubakar got a second yellow card for taking his shirt off after he scored the winning goal.

It is Brazil’s first loss in the FIFA 2022 World Cup. But the five-time winners still go through as group winners with Cameroon eliminated after Switzerland’s win over Serbia.

Brazil coach Tite made 10 changes and Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli took the chance to impress.

Switzerland defeated Serbia 3-2 at the 974 Stadium in Doha to join Brazil in the last 16.

The entertaining five-goal thriller saw Xherdan Shaqiri score the first goal in the 20th minute.

Serbia responded 6 minutes late when Aleksandar Mitrovic headed home the equalizer from a Dusan Tadic cross.

Dusan Vlahovic scored in the 35th minute after poor defending from Switzerland.

Breel Embolo leveled scores for Switzerland in the 44th minute from a Silvan Widmar cross into the box.

Switzerland continued from where they stopped in the second half with a 3rd goal by Remu Freuler. His 48th-minute goal decided the frantic game as Serbia could not recover and got eliminated.
