Nigerian conjoined twins successfully separated in Saudi Arabia

Conjoined Nigerian twins successfully separated

Nigerian conjoined twins have been successfully separated at King Abdullah Specialist Hospital for Children, Saudi Arabia.

The twins, Hassanah and Hussaina were born at the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Kaduna in January 2022.

Apparently, they were conjoined at the abdomen, intestines, urinary and reproductive systems, pelvis and liver. They are first moved to the National Hospital in Abuja, where no surgery was done because of lack of funds.

However, luck smiled on them when the news got to the Saudi Arabia government who offered a free surgery to the family, Exactly on 8, 2022 the parents with the children arrived in the country where the surgery was carried out.

The surgery had 8 different stages and lasted for 14 long hours with 35 different doctors, medical experts and nurses.

The twins are separated and the leader of the surgical team, Abdullah Abdulaziz al-Rabeeah explained that the reconstructive process was all that needed to be done.

Meanwhile, conjoined twin sisters, Lupita and Carmen Andre answered some questions regarding their daily activities and body system.

The 22-year-old siblings who originally come from Mexico but live in Connecticut have addressed questions that people ask them as they asserted that they are two different people who just share one body.

In a TikTok video, the conjoined twins explained that they do not have the same feelings because they have two separate brains but they do feel intoxicated together if one of them takes alcohol.
