A disabled young man who is now a graduate of Benue State University has shared his story of how he struggled to finish his university.
The determined man identified as Terungwa David Tuwha explained how he became bound to a wheelchair at a very young age.
According to him, he was not born with his disability but became disabled when he contracted Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), (a neurological disorder that involves progressive weakness and reduced senses in the arms and legs).
David shared that he noticed that he started having weakness in his legs at a very young age, and what was assumed to be nothing became worse.
The young man had no choice but to start using a wheelchair for mobility, when he was asked how he managed to graduate from the university despite his challenge.
David responded that he had many issues but the major one was ‘going upstairs for lectures or during tests’.
The 28-year-old who now works as a graphic designer studied Early childhood education and is a proud graduate of Benue State University (BSU).
