Following the arrest and detention of suspended Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele, a video clip went viral showing monies being recovered by officials of the State Security Service (SSS) from the home apex bank boss.
According to a statement by Willie Bassey, director of information, SGF office, President Bola Tinubu suspended Emefiele with immediate effect so as to carry out an investigation of his office and the planned reforms in the financial sector of the economy.
Days after, a twitter user with the handle @simplyTEEWHY, shared a video showing two men alone in a fairly large room and the custody of numerous bales of dollar currencies.
While one of them unpacked bundles of cash from a duffel bag, the other was seen placing each bundle into a bill note counter. The tweet garnered nearly 10,000 reactions from netizens.

In bid to check the correctness of the tweet, our reporter’s online checks show that the last time the secret police searched Emefiele was in January, and the search was at his office in the CBN headquarters, not his house.
While the SSS said it planned to search the suspended governor’s home, the action is yet to be carried out.
Our findings however revealed the viral video was recorded in 2019 when $10,000,000 was discovered and stashed in suitcases in the Khartoum state home of former ousted Sudan leader Omar al-Bashir.
So, the claim and viral video showing the discovery of stashed currencies in Emefiele’s house is FALSE!
