A father and son both earned honours degrees from South Carolina State University in the United States on the same day.
Both Antoni Gathers, the father, and Brandon Gathers, the son, received their degrees from South Carolina State University in the United States.
Antonio, 49, earned a master’s degree in psychology or rehabilitation counselling.

The 23-year-old Brandon received a bachelor’s degree in business management.
Despite having a 26-year age difference, according to BlackNews, a number of factors allowed them to complete their degrees at the same time.
Initially choosing a different major in a different university, Brandon claimed he later made the decision to transfer to South Carolina University.
He called the accomplishment extraordinary and did not regret skipping two years of his career due to switching schools.
Father and son graduate from same university
Two years after his kid entered the same college, he made the decision to participate in the specialised degree programme.
Brandon went to campus for his coursework, but Antonio studied online.
Years after graduating from high school in 1988, Antonio earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Claflin University in the United States in 2010.
Antonio claimed that he learned about a unique degree programme at South Carolina State University while grocery shopping.
The father and son team claimed that they are inspired by one another.
Antonio claimed that Brandon’s sense of tenacity inspired him to work hard in school.
“He was an inspiration to me, just seeing his perseverance,” Antonio told ABC about his son.
“Doing other things, and having a full-time career, you kind of put yourself on the back burner. And it was just really important to me to get his degree to pursue another avenue in my life and in my career so that I could help people,” he added.
