About the Federal Government Scholarship

As a prospective candidate, you must have heard of The Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA) and the Nigeria Award Scholarship (NA) awards. They are aimed particularly at students who are in Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) studies.

These scholarship schemes are a process that is accepted once a year. Interested Candidates have the chance to apply once a year, which means the scholarship is done yearly.

Here successful Undergraduate candidates will have the chance to further their education in the following countries:  Morocco, Russia, Hungary, Turkey, Cuba, Romania, Macedonia, Japan, Cuba, Tunisia, Serbia, and Egypt.

For those that have finished with their undergraduate studies, but will want to continue with Postgraduate studies. You will have the chance to further your education in the following countries: China, Hungary, Turkey, Serbia, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, Russia (this is for those who got their first degree in Russia), etc.

There is another scholarship scheme that focuses on only females, it is called The Nigeria Award Scholarship (NA), which is also known as the Nigeria Award/ Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

Just like we indicated, it is solely for girls or females that are in pursuit of their undergraduate degree or postgraduate education. They will be funded under this scholarship scheme.

Eligibility for the Federal Government Scholarship

We will be looking at two important federal government scholarship schemes:

  • Undergraduates are believed to be doing well academically, in fact, you are required to have a 4.0 on a 5.0-point scale and a 5.0 on a 7.0-point scale. Anything below this will not be accepted.
  • Selected candidates will only be those who have been verified as full-time students in their second year and above. Part-time students should not try to apply.

Duration of the Federal Government Scholarships

There are a number of factors that will determine the duration of the scholarship. Firstly, the host countries and your choice of courses are dependent on the duration of the scholarship. The normal range is from 4-9 years.

Required Documents for the Federal Government Scholarship

  • Data page of your current international passport
  • For the NA/SDG awards, you must follow the following procedures.
  • You need a Police clearance certificate if it is relevant,
  • Some Copies of your original academic certificates
  • You are expected to complete the forms, submit them online, and also have them printed out.

  • Prospective candidates should be informed that there will be computer-based tests and they are to choose the nearest centre to where they live.

    While attempting the interview, print out two copies of your application form, you also need to come along with these documents:
  • Two photocopies of your educational certificates and testimonials of the former schools attended and an original.
