A 14-year-old boy has died following clashes between France and Morocco after the World Cup semi-final match.
France ended Morocco’s dream run in the FIFA 2022 World Cup when it defeated Morocco 2-0.
Goals from Theo Hernandez and Kolo Muani, saw the defending champions have a shot at retaining their title.
Unfortunately, the result did not go down well in some cities in France where celebrations turned violent.
A teenage boy was run down on the streets of Montpellier as Moroccan fans rioted following the defeat.
Reports have it that the boy was part of a large group of Moroccan fans prowling down the street.
The fans came across a white hatchback with a French flag flying out of its window. The group descended on the car, attempting to rip the flag away from its owner when the driver panicked and performed a hasty U-turn to cross into the oncoming lane and make a quick getaway.
Several members of the crowd could not react in time and the teenager was sucked under the wheels, sustaining critical injuries. Authorities confirmed he was transferred to a nearby hospital but later died.

A statement issued by the local government office said the boy was “violently hit” by a car in the city, in the south of France, on Wednesday.
He was transferred to the hospital, but died shortly after arrival, the Department of Herault said.
The vehicle was found near the scene and police are investigating.
Video shared on social media showed crowds in the street milling around a car being driven erratically.
France and Morocco’s fans also clashed in Paris following the game. Police in riot gear were called to disperse the crowds.
