Paul Pogba handed 4-year ban

Paul Pogba, the former midfielder for Manchester United and Juventus player, has received a four-year ban from football following a failed drugs test last August.

The test revealed the presence of DHEA, a prohibited substance, after Pogba’s team, Juventus, played against Udinese in the Serie A. Despite not participating in the match, Pogba’s test returned positive.

The Italian anti-doping prosecutor’s office imposed a substantial penalty on Pogba on Thursday.

Despite his legal team’s rejection of a plea deal and their argument that Paul Pogba unintentionally consumed the substance, the prosecution remained unconvinced.

Consequently, Pogba faces a ban that could potentially conclude his football career. He has expressed his intention to appeal this decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

With his 31st birthday approaching next month, Pogba faces the prospect of being sidelined until almost 35 years old, unless his appeal proves successful.
