ChatGPT robot Pastor wedded couple in church
The couple, Reece Alison Wiench and Deyton Truitt, decided to utilize the robot as their wedding officiant due to Colorado’s marriage laws, which do not require a licensed official as long as both partners consent.
According to reports, Truitt expressed that their wedding day was “monumental” and attributed the ability to have this special ceremony to “the grace of God.” The idea of using the chatbot came from the bride’s father, Stephen Wiench, who believed it would be a more convenient and cost-effective alternative to finding a human officiant.
Initially, the bot seemed hesitant about taking on the task, responding, “Sorry, I can’t do this. I don’t have eyes, I don’t have a body, I can’t show up and officiate your wedding.”
