A Nigerian woman named Gold Syril has raised a question on social media, wondering whether it is acceptable for a man to divorce his wife due to her inability to conceive a child.
Gold shared that her neighbor had expelled his wife from their home solely because she couldn’t bear children, and witnessing the woman leave with her belongings deeply saddened her.
According to Gold, her neighbor took the decision to divorce his wife because she had not been able to conceive and bear him a child. The husband’s desire for a child might have been strong, and the wife’s inability to fulfill that expectation led to their separation.

“My neighbor sent his wife parking just now because She has not given him a child, I’m pained watching her park right now. Abeg is it really proper to chase your wife away bcos of a child? Please I need answer. God please bless every TTC.”

In response to the post, Blessing Edere Iruoghene expressed the opinion that being unable to conceive (not having a womb) is a valid reason to justify divorcing a woman.
“What if the woman didn’t have a womb? More reason I must do a fertility test with my partner before marriage,” he wrote.
