Patrice Evra Changes His Mind Over Ghanaian-Nigerian Jollof Battle (Video)

Former Manchester United captain Patrice Evra believes Ghana and Nigeria’s jollof rice war will “never end.”

Jollof rice is the undisputed queen of West African kitchens, with its tantalizing aroma, deep red color, and spicy flavor.

The culinary treasure has been adopted by several West African countries, and these countries have made it so personal in terms of pride and contention, according to QZ.

The Frenchman, who recently visited Ghana as part of preparations for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, claimed that Ghanaian jollof tastes better than Nigerian jollof.

However, after tasting the delicacy prepared by a Nigerian again, the 41-year-old appears to have changed his mind.

The Senegal-born superstar has continued to interact with his Instagram followers as he provided an update, claiming a ‘big guy’ accosted him in a restaurant and wrote to him not to undermine Nigerian jollof.

Evra said:

“Guys, that jollof war will never end. I was in a restaurant and a big guy dropped a piece of paper on my table and left.

“I turned it and saw ‘don’t ever say that Ghanaian jollof is better than Nigerian jollof’. “So I feel scared and feel threatened for my life.

So I’m going to give another chance to my Nigerian people, maybe I tasted the not too good one the first time.”

To his delight, the former footballer held a plate of Nigerian jollof as he ate. He added:

“So let’s be fair…let’s see. That’s what I’m talking about. OMG – I’m sorry my Ghanaian brothers, this is the best. I love this game, happy Monday to all my Nigerian people.”
