A Nigerian man, Darlington Onyelike, has taken to social media to enlighten women that their husbands are not their friends.
In a Facebook post on January 31, Onyelike told women that they shouldn’t see their husbands as their friends but should consider them as their lords.
He said, “Majority of those that claimed to have married their friends have divorced the marriages.”

No man can give you 24-hours attention
Onyelike said there is no way any man, even a jobless one can give his wife 24-hour attention.
He said the man has responsibilities and bills to pay, which would hinder him from spending all his time with his spouse.
There’s no equality in marriage
According to Mr Onyelike, many women confuse themselves by believing there is equality in marriage.
He stressed that there are no two men in the family; and that only the husband is regarded as the head of the house.
“Your husband is the head of the family just like God is the head of church,” he added.
Reactions: My husband must be my friend
One Maria Ude Nwachi, a content creator on Facebook reposted Onyelike’s exact words, and it generated plenty of reactions from netizens. See some of the comments;
@Kosun: The Bible actually said so. In reality how many men are actually shouldering such responsibilities. It’s not about what the Bible said but do what it’s said.
@Amarachi Zaazi: The fact that my gender believes that they are equal with their husband, increases the number of this saying ” am suffering in this marriage and needs to quit ” It’s not right at all.
@Rosemary Chinaza: I strongly disagree with diz writeup. A friend is suppose to b seen first In a marriage or husband before a lord. This post is d reason why some men use pride in leaving with their partner instead of love. They can’t lift a pin from d ground bcos dey feel they are Lord.D only Lord I know is d prince of peace, my husband that I know will and must be my friend shikena.
