During a flight from Lagos to Abuja, Ibom Air detained a passenger for allegedly stealing another passenger’s laptop in the overhead cabin. Aniekan Essienette, the company’s general manager of marketing and communications, made this public in a statement released to local press.
The incident happened on the morning of July 26, 2023, during the boarding of Ibom Air flight Q1300 from Lagos to Abuja, according to the statement provided by Esseienette.
The passenger (suspect), Ogeneochuko David, was detained for allegedly stealing another passenger’s laptop from his bag in the overhead compartment, The Nation reported.

Ibom Air hands over the suspect for thorough investigation
Ibom Air claimed that when the owner of the laptop spotted the movement and realized his equipment was missing, he grew anxious.
According to Mr. Aniekan Esseienette,
“He raised the alarm by notifying the crew members accordingly,”
Essienette added that the suspect had been given to the police so that a thorough investigation could be conducted. She added that the suspect had been identified by the police as a member of a syndicate that was very skilled at stealing from aircraft.
