Mr Jide Sanwo-olu, Governor of Lagos State, officially received Federal Government approval to establish the Lekki-Epe Airport today.
This announcement took place at the Lagos Economic Summit, Ehingbetti, held at the Eko Hotel and Suites.
Hadi Sirika, the Hon Minister of Aviation, attended the event. He represented the FG in presenting the letter of approval for the construction of a passenger and cargo airport.
According to Hadi Sirika, he recognised the significance of the Lekki-Epe Airport given the importance of Lagos to the country’s economy.
This might be a good investment, especially with the high population and GDP growth rate.
Foreign investors are on the look out for a better location with better accessibility.

Lagos State population has grown over the years. with an estimation of over 15 million individuals with at least one person coming in every second.
Jide Sanwo-Olu, speaking to the press, stated that it is all about partnership with the FG to improving the lives of state residents.

Murtala Muhammed Lagos Airport
Inaugurated in 1979, the Murtala Muhammed International Airport has become a hotspot. However, ever since then, the airport has not had a quality routine check and renovation.
The airport has grown to become one of the most populated and over congested airport according to FAAN.
The need for a second airport might just be a good opportunity for the state and the country at large.
