A Nigerian man gave a brief contrast of society’s double standards towards women in the aspect of separation in marriage.
In a tweet, he described two different scenarios where a woman left her husband due to his inability to provide.
He also highlighted a situation where a man received care and attention because women took care of their husbands but not because he was a good husband or father.

He pointed out that society accorded women praise when something was done to favour the man but when things went wrong it was always the man’s fault.
Society has double standards towards women
His statement implied that society had double standards towards women and as such treated men unfairly.
He wrote: “When a man is abandoned by his wife and children in moment of need, it’s because he wasn’t a good husband and father. But when a man is receiving attention & care, it’s because women always take care of their sick husbands. It’s no longer because he was a good husband & father.”
His tweet raised questions as tweeps sought to understand his point of view which led to further conversation.”
@TheBigMan2Pees asked that he explain further and he responded saying,
“I’m talking about Twitter standards from feminists and their allies. If a man is abandoned, feminists claim that he deserves it because he wasn’t a good man. When he’s taken care of, It’s no longer that he deserves it because he’s a good man rather that women are simply kind.”
