A Nigerian lady identified as Aisha has shared how proud she was of herself for achieving and succeeding in her education in Scotland.

Five years ago, the young woman traveled to Scotland to study Architecture at Edinburgh University.

She shared that she struggled a lot and during her open day, she was by herself and couldn’t attend because she had no friends and her family members were not with her.

Aisha also revealed that when she got to the country, she had to deal with so much culture shock and the climate.

After five years, the young woman shared that despite everything she passed through she was able to achieve her dreams and most importantly graduate from the university.

Posting a video of herself and her parents happily smiling in a car, the lady said, “5 years ago, I boarded a one-way flight to study architecture at @edinburghuniversity. I had worked my brains off in high school in Nigeria and then Ghana, literally burning the midnight candle to get the appropriate grades, and so naturally, I was elated!”

“I went on my own. I didn’t attend the open day and neither did I know fully what my new reality would be. I knew I’d figure it all out as I went but my God, was it difficult adapting to a new culture and climate. I still remember when I walked out the Edinburgh airport into the cool September breeze, I swear the cold felt like I was in a fridge. Then I had to learn the Scottish accent and catch up to the new teaching style and make friends and cook food!! To say it was a lot is an understatement,” she narrated.

She added that her parents finally got a visa to Scotland to celbrate her graduation ceremony with her.

But dad would always say “when the goal is right, no amount of sacrifice is too much” I sacrificed being a kid and they sacrificed watching their little kid grow in their arms. I ventured into adulthood armed with all their teachings and I am forever grateful they trusted me to do right by myself. It’s 5 years later. InshaAllah, tomorrow, I graduate from a world class university, a full grown adult with responsibilities and a job to seek 😂 Let’s not dwell on the uncertainly of the future, shall we? In the spirit of focusing on the present, I have a graduation to attend and a graduation party to organise. I pray we all get to finish what we started and reap the fruits of our labour 🙏🏾 #graduation #graduated #edinburghgrad #edinburgh #edinburghuniversity
