Nigerian man begins write-a-thon, vows to write for 188 hours

  • A man who vowed to write for 188 hours has started in Calabar, the capital of Cross River state, by a Nigerian man. 
  • During the writing marathon, the ambitious author Daniel Ehis Aiguokhian has committed to generate two volumes every day. 
  • His goal is to break the previous Guinness World Record for the most hours spent penning both fiction and nonfiction.

A Nigerian man who is a student of University of Calabar began a write-a-thon and vowed to write for 188 hours. 

The University of Calabar, UNICAL, in the state of Cross River, is hosting the story writing marathon.

Daniel Ehis Aiguokhian, a writer, is attempting to break the record for the most hours spent by an individual penning fiction and nonfiction works.

On Sunday, October 1, Daniel started his writing marathon, which is anticipated to extend until October 8.

The aspirational author is a UNICAL philosophy department 300-level student who vows to write for 188 hours.

Apart from aiming to set a world record, Daniel gave more insights into his writing quest: “In addition to this, I am expected to write 16 books with a minimum of 25 pages each, producing two books each 24 hours during the period. My reasons for going on this journey is to show the world the intellectual abilities Nigerians have, and to make the works of writers to be much more appreciated and recognised in Nigeria and Africa at large.

“Lastly, I am embarking on this journey to encourage and motivate not just young and established writers and authors but other people who are still doubting their ability to show them forth. I want to use this activity to help push them out of their comfort zone into achieving their goals in life.”

The Helen Media shared pictures taken at the ongoing event on Facebook, and they demonstrate the writing on the table performing the task he agreed to.

Meanwhile, an Ibadan-based chef, identified as Peniell_cm, has embarked on a marathon cooking challenge in a bid to break the Guinness World Record.

This feat comes just few months after, Hilda Baci, made headlines by smashing the previous record for the longest cooking marathon.

Peniell_cm’s culinary adventure commenced on September 28th and she has been tirelessly cooking for an astounding 24 hours straight.
