Actor Idris Elba, a celebrated British actor, recently shared that his enthusiasm for portraying the iconic character of James Bond waned as a result of the pervasive racism that infiltrated discussions surrounding the role.
Speaking on the popular Smartless podcast, hosted by Jason Bateman, Sean Haves, and Will Arnett, the 50-year-old actor opened up about his initial excitement when rumours connected him to the coveted role.

Elba expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support he received and described being considered for the part of James Bond as the pinnacle of his career.
He acknowledged the significance of the role and the global influence it holds. However, he lamented that the issue of race tainted the discourse.
While Elba was grateful for the widespread approval from around the world, he noted that certain corners, which he chose not to delve into, harboured opposition based on his race.
